Good Evening Zashers,
Hello new year! With 2022 just around the corner, we’re one step closer to the Football World Cup, the Winter Olympics, and most importantly Top Gun: Maverick! In this week’s New Year’s special, we’ll cover the rise of OpenDAO, a Zash-exclusive networking opportunity, and more! Check out what’s going on below ⬇️
Web3 Insight 🌐
It’s an emergency! Last week, a new DAO called the OpenDAO suddenly emerged from the shadows to distribute free tokens to users of OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace in the world. OpenDAO and its SOS token exists "to pay tribute, to protect, to promote the NFT community”, according to its website. Anyone who transacted on OpenSea was open to claim tokens after linking their wallet to the OpenDAO website, with rewards being then calculated based on the total value and number of transactions made on OpenSea. The total number of transactions has 30% weight, and transaction volume in ETH, DAI, and USDC has 70% weight for token distribution, according to the OpenDAO's website. That means the more money spent on transactions, the more SOS tokens you would get. This obviously got a lot of attention on Twitter, with many users criticising OpenSea but appreciating OpenDAO for giving back to the community. For a more detailed guide into SOS, here’s a great explainer 👇

Bored at home? 🕸
A few weeks ago, we held our inaugural Zash social in London where blockchain and crypto enthusiasts could network and discuss the future of Web3 over some drinks. We do look forward to hosting more of these events in the new year, however, with the impending lockdown restrictions and more people indoors over the next few weeks, we aim to keep the networking spirit alive by pivoting to digital match-making and networking, allowing our community to meet like-minded crypto enthusiasts all whilst following lockdown rules!
Register to be paired up with interesting individuals and embed yourself deeper in the Web3 community. We'll then match you up with a corresponding community member and leave the rest to you.
Registrations are a precursor to potentially more frequent online match-making and exclusive Zash events in 2022.
