That’s why we want to give you a one stop shop for all things crypto education, in the form of Zash Learn. Last week, over $30 million of cryptocurrency was stolen from crypto.com account holders, with the Singapore based exchange indicating that the incident allowed unauthorised withdrawals of 4,836.26 Ethereum tokens worth around $15 million and 443.93 bitcoin tokens worth around $17.3 million as well as approximately $66,200 in other cryptocurrencies. Although the hack victims were refunded by the exchange platform, The 2FA bypass of Crypto.com led to the introduction of the company’s Worldwide Account Protection Program (WAPP) that would reimburse “qualifying users” in “select markets” with up to $250,000 after unauthorised withdrawals. Alphabet’s Google Cloud division is forming a team to win blockchain business after making a concerted effort in retail and other industries. An announcement last week by Yolande Piazza, Google Cloud's vice president of Financial Services, said the firm has established a Google Cloud Digital Assets Team that will assist clients in creating, trading, storing value and launching new products on blockchain-based platforms.
Football fan platform Copa90 has hired Petrit Berisha in the newly-created role of head of cryptomedia to sniff out opportunities in the burgeoning world of crypto, NFTs and the blockchain. The new role has been created to understand Crypto as the new paradigm for media and football. Is cryptomedia a role we’re going to see more of now?
A report by Chainalysis shows that criminals laundered $8.6bn (£6.4bn) of cryptocurrency in 2021, up by 30% from the previous year. Chainalysis tracks cryptocurrency wallets controlled by criminals such as ransomware attackers, malware operators, scammers, human traffickers, dark net market operators, and terrorist groups. By following the flows of cryptocurrency from addresses associated with criminal activity, Chainalysis was able to estimate the amount "laundered".
